Happy Birthday to Me. If you forgot about it, shame on you. You can always make a comment on the link below to express any and all birthday wishes for me.
I’ll have alot of things to do today, with my trip to Ottawa on Monday. Packing; making sure I have my credentials in order and all that. Plus I’ll be loosing an hour of sleep, so I’m sure getting a nap this afternoon will be a necessary priority. I do like Daylight Savings Time. I wish we could have it year round. Summer nights when it doesn’t get dark until 8PM is great. I thrive on sunshine. Lately I’ve been waking up earlier than usual, when the sunlight shines through the windows.

Snow Report – Paoli
Well maybe my rant yesterday about church cliques was a bit harsh. It’s not the first time I’ve complained about church. And I’m sure it won’t be the last. Maybe I’ve got some type of unreachable religious utopia about how things at church should be. Granted, there will be cliques in all groups. There’s no escaping that. I just wish it wasn’t so noticeable.
Today I’m planning on buying a CD Writer for my computer. I’m donating my current one (a 4x speed) to church for use on the computer in the audio-visual department. We have a major problem transfering big files from one computer to another. I’m hoping I can get this new one to work with Windows 2000. My current one will not work with Win2K. I think it is driver issues.
This warm weather is causing Paoli Peaks alot of money. Here’s the latest snow report:
Snow Base: 0 to 30″, Trails narrow in places with bare areas at the top, made a little snow this morning, more tonight
Snow Surface: Machine groomed, granular
Trails Open: 12 trails out of 15 open, Oak & Beech closed
Lifts Operating: 4 Chairs, 1 Tow
Current News: We lost a considerable amount of snow and skiing conditions are marginal, especially at the top. Snowmaking is likely on some trails during operation as soon as temperatures allow to do so. Winter is on the way back, THINK SNOW!
I’m glad I went skiing in January. Or else I might not have gone at all this year. Who would have guessed we would have had such warm weather in in winter?
Commenting about Big Ski Trips
I’ve implemented the ability for readers to post comments about my weblog entries. So if you want to post your thoughts about my comments, feel free to. The link is at the bottom of each entry.
There’s a small group of us from church who are planning a big ski trip out west this February or March. We’ve talked about going to Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I’ve been there before. It was September 2000 with my work. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. I’m sure it is even more beautiful in winter. I’m a bit intimidated by looking at some of the trailmaps at Heavenly Ski Resort. It’s much larger than what I’ve ever seen. I hope I’ll be able to keep up.
A friend and I were having an email discussion about skiing. He said that anything was better than Paoli. I’m wondering if there are worse places to ski compared to Paoli. There’s Appalachian Ski Mtn. I’ve been there before. The runs are probably longer than Paoli, but there are fewer. There’s Perfect North, which I haven’t been to. It’s trailmap looks much sparser compared to Paoli. I did some internet searching and found that there is a ski place in Georgia…..Ski Sky Valley. No trailmap is posted on their site.
The bottom line is that there are far more worse places to ski at. Paoli is ok. It’s not the best and certainly isn’t the absolute worst.
The Allen Arena
The Lipscomb Men’s team won their first basketball game in the new arena by one point. The new arena is impressive. It’s not like McQuiddy anymore….which reminded me of a hyped up high school gym. I took my digital camera with me and got some shots near the goal (which is where we were sitting the whole time). The only problem is that due to the gym being dark, I had to set my shutter for a long exposure. However the game was so fast paced that many of the pictures came out blurred.
Like I said the Allen Arena is impressive. Shows you what money will buy these days. The athletic department gets a brand new arena while the History department is confined to a leaky dark moldy basement of Burton Bible Building. And Lipscomb wonders why I don’t give any money back to them….hmmmm…… Lipscomb’s priorities are definitely out of order.
I also saw several people at the game that I went to school with. Some of them even work for Lipscomb. This is quite sad that they can’t seem to leave Lipscomb. Come on, people it’s time to move on to the real world.
